Augsburg was our home base for visiting Oktoberfest this year. The train ride is about 45 minutes to Munich and fairly inexpensive when you are travelling with a group.
This photo was taken with a mid-wide angle lens (28 mm) on a sunny day in October. Post-processing to adjust the shadows and highlights brought out the clouds that were otherwise over exposed. Shooting with a 28 mm from a low angle gives the buildings a tall, looming, quality. This is great for the buildings but use the same effect on a group of people and their bottom half will look huge! I prefer my 50 mm for photographing people most of the time because it's closest to what the human eye sees and minimizes weird distortion.
Quick Tip: Shoot people with a 35 or 50 mm and landscapes with a 35 or 28 mm. Distortion can do weird things to portraits and your models could look like bobble heads.
